FBC Honours Its Pledge to Reconstruct Classroom Blocks in Chimanimani
Zimbabwe’s leading financial services powerhouse and socially responsible corporate citizen (FBC Holdings) donated building material for the re-construction of classroom blocks destroyed by Cyclone Idai at Charleswood Primary School in Chimanimani. The building material , which consist of cement, asbestos sheets, roofing timber, window frames, door frames, brick force, doors, paint, window panes, among other crucial material, have since been delivered to the school early this month in order to pave way for the speedy construction of four modern classrooms.
FBC Bank sponsored the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Schools Secretary Merit Awards which saw several high performing schools receiving prizes in the form of e-learning classroom equipment of teachers’ laptops , children’s laptops, interactive classroom boards, projectors and.
The schools were picked from the following provinces around the country namely;
- Bulawayo
- Harare
- Mashonaland Central
- Mashonaland East
- Mashonaland West
- Manicaland
- Masvingo
- Midlands
FBC Donates Towards Cyclone Idai
Zimbabwe’s leading diversified financial services powerhouse, FBC Holdings has donated twenty (20) tonnes of groceries worth more than RTGS$60,000.00 for assisting people affected by Cyclone Idai as part of the group’s corporate social responsibility initiatives and a call to assist victims during this time of a national disaster. The groceries consist of mealie-meal, kapenta , sugar beans, cooking oil and fine salt. The group also donated one thousand (1000) litres of fuel in order to ease transport logistics for Cyclone Idai relief activities. It has also pledged to construct classroom blocks and finance the education of children who lost their parents and guardians due to the tropical cyclone.
The FBC Holdings Group is committed towards giving back to the community and investing in humanitarian initiatives for assisting communities in need of help. Roy Nyakunuwa (Acting Head –FBC Group Marketing) said, “We (as the FBC Group) note with sadness the tragedy that befell our fellow countrymen in the Manicaland Province, particularly Chimanimani, parts of Chipinge and Masvingo Province. Precious lives were lost; homes, schools, businesses, hospitals and police stations have been destroyed. Roads have been washed away and a considerable number of people are stranded because of the heavy flooding. As a responsible corporate citizen, we felt obliged to play our small part towards assisting families affected by the tropical storm. We mourn with the nation and those relatives who lost their loved ones. May the souls of all the deceased rest in eternal peace.”
“The whole FBC Family is contributing resources towards the plight of Cyclone Idai Victims. In addition to the RTGS$60,000.00 worth of groceries availed by the FBC Group to families in Manicaland, our staff members are currently mobilising important items such as tents, blankets, clothes, buckets, dry –food, pots and basic hygienic items consisting of soap, sanitary pads and diapers. All items mobilised by staff members will be forwarded to communities affected by Cyclone Idai through the Red Cross of Zimbabwe.” added Roy Nyakunuwa.

FBC Donates 10 000 Covid-19 Diagnostic Test Kits

FBC Holdings (Zimbabwe’s leading financial services institution and responsible corporate citizen) has demonstrated its commitment towards containing the spread of Covid-19 in Zimbabwe.The Group proudly donated Ten Thousand (10 000) Coronavirus test kits in the interest of public health.
The donation was presented to the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, His Excellency, President ED Mnangagwa and representatives from the Ministry of Health and Child Care recently. A total of Five Thousand (5,000) test kits were allocated to the Office of President and Cabinet, Three Thousand (3000) to PSMI and the other Two Thousand (2000) were equitably distributed to Sally Mugabe Central Hospital and Bulawayo City Council.
Speaking at the handover ceremony for the donation, Herbert Nkala (FBC Group Chairman) said, “We believe the best way to defeat this pandemic is by first understanding the extend of the problem and that can only be done through testing of our people. As FBC, we imported 10 00 Diagonistic test kits which we are proud to donate”.
“It is our belief that the kits will assist on detection of people exposed to the virus, leading to the implementation of the necessary health measures to contain transmission of the same. As a responsible corporate citizen, our primary concern remains the health of the nation. As such, we are here to affirm our commitment towards preventing the spread of Covid-19 in our country. We have seen it fit to play a small part towards responding to the national disaster,” added Mr Nkala.
In his address, Herbert Nkala (FBCH Group Chairman) also expressed his gratitude to all stakeholders who are working tirelessly to contain the spread of Coronavirus. “Our appreciation goes to the Ministry of Health and Child Care, all front-line health care givers and everyone who is playing a key role in the fight to stop the spread of Covid-19,” he said.
